I'm not going to go through the whole sordid story here. Much as I'd like to, I haven't been giving it the attention it deserves, but Paul Wells has been doing a fantastic job on it.
You can read his latest blog post about it here.
Mea culpa. I've been going on (and yes, god knows I do go on ... ) about asshole cops and police brutality and lack of accountability, but it seems to me that these bastards from the PMO have been just as vicious as any of the swine at the G20 or on the Ottawa police. The difference, really, is that they use press releases and audits instead of boots and batons.
Let's not mince words here. A good and decent man was hounded to death by a coterie of Harper operatives on an orchestrated smear mission, and why? Because he wouldn't cravenly submit and cleave to the party line.
Well, there it is. We must know, by now, that that's the way the Harper gang operates, but can we, at long last, put to rest the notion that we have anything resembling an Opposition in this country? Someone has to call these reptiles to account, but it's not going to be Iggy and the No-Spines.
Update: Paul Wells offers Braun and LaTulippe space on his blog to give their versions. I wonder why they haven't taken him up on it?
